Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction or SI for short!
Starts Monday, August 31st
UPDATED OCTOBER 16 - New Biology I times

What is SI? Facilitated study session.  The Leaders got a good grade in the course so they can pass along valuable information so you can do the same.  During the sessions Leaders guide the discussion and everyone helps eachother to understand the material and learn some of the best study skills and learning strategies to tackle these difficult courses

Why should you go to SI?
Because you want a good grade in the course, need to study anyway and its fun!  Research has found that students who go regularly (at least once each week) average a higher grade in the course that students who don’t use SI.

Who is SI for? SI is for students who know they are going to ace the course and want to better understand the material;  it is for students who didn’t do so well last semester, it is for any and ALL students who want to really learn the material.

How do I get involved? Just show up!  SI is offered on a first come-first serve basis.  The sections are limited to the first 15 students who arrive each time.

What students say about SI

“As a group we were made to think critically about a chemistry problem, rather than being given the answer.”

“I definitely felt a lot more prepared after coming to class because things were explained thoroughly and questions were answered.”

“(The SI leader) spoke to us at a level we could understand and made difficult concepts easier.”

“I learned more in one hour…than I do in one week of lectures.”
